94 further, would you care to translate the following verses of the Quran in keeping with your own Arabic lexicon and your own principles of translation? The verses in question are: ْمَلَف اْوُدِجَت ًءٓاَم اْوُمَّمَيَتَف اًدْيِعَص اًبِّيَط And when you find no water, then betake yourself to pure dust. (Sūrah an-Nis a’ , v. 44) َو ىٰۤداَن ُبٰحْصَا ِراَّنلا َبٰحْصَا ِةَّنَجْلا ْنَا اْوُضْيِفَا اَنْيَلَع َنِم ِءٓاَمْلا And the inmates of the Fire will call out to the inmates of Heaven, ‘Pour on us some water …’ (Sūrah al-A‘r a f, v. 51) َّو َناَك ٗهُشْرَع ىَلَع ِءٓاَمْلا ْمُكَوُلْبَيِل ْمُكُّيَا ُنَسْحَا اًلَمَع And His throne rests on water, that He might prove you to show which of you is best in conduct. ( Sūrah H u d, v. 8) َو اَنْلَّزَن َنِم ِءٓاَمَّسلا ًءٓاَم اًكَرٰبُّم اَنْتَبْۢنَاَف ٖهِب ٍتّٰنَج And we send down from the sky water that is full of bless- ings, and we produce therewith gardens … ( Sūrah Q a f, v. 10) ُمُتْيَءَرَفَا َءٓاَمْلا ْيِذَّلا َنْوُبَرْشَت
