The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order further result in the ravage of Islamic nations and those causes will continue to operate and those diseases will remain as a result of which, time and again, the peace in the Middle East is disturbed, and time and again the world feels endangered from the Muslims. OCCUPATION OF ARAB LAND BY ISRAEL It certainly did not serve the purpose of justice that, after each war, Israel occupied additional Muslim territory and the West always supported Israel to make those occupations permanent. There was not an inch of land which Israel had to evacuate except some Egyptian territory. When Israel was made to give up its occupation of the Sinai desert they first forced Egypt to submit to their humiliating conditions. Egypt was forced to finalize such a treaty with Israel as a result of which it was hoped that Egypt would be cut-off from the Islamic world for good, and would become a target of their animosity and after this its continued existence would depend on the West. As long as the West would give its support, it would survive, otherwise it would be tom to pieces. These were their expectations based on which they restored those desert areas to Egypt which had been occupied by the Jews. But besides that, no land has been recovered anywhere else. That is to say, Israel has not been made to return the land of those who did not stoop so low as to accept a treaty of humiliation. How long has Jordan been a friend of the West? Even now when they speak of Jordan in the news they refer to it as a friend. But now they say: Look at how much we depended upon Jordan. How insane of us! How unfaithful a friend she has proved to be. And they do not see how they have reciprocated towards Jordan for this long friendship? All this time, a part of your friend's territory remained in the possession of its enemy and all the w hile you strengthened the enemy to continue with its unlawful occupation. Despite all that, it remained your friend. THE MUSLIMS CONTINUE TO BE STUNG FROM TIIE SAME ORIFICE When the Holy Quran admonishes not to befriend the enemy, some people created a misunderstanding about this statement and, as a result, certain Muslim scholars of the medieval period engendered a bad name to Islam. When Islam advises that you should never befriend such a non Muslim it means: do not befriend outsiders at the r. ost of 67
