Third Friday Sennon Aug 24, 1990 THE REAL DUTY OF ISLAMIC LEADERSHIP So the leaders whom the West bad been presenting before the world as 'sick beads', and who, in fact were sick because of the West inflicted ailments, the same Muslims provided the West with a further opportunity to blame the religion of Islam for their malady. An incorrect diagnosis - blaming Islam - was thus re-introduced in the world. The world believed this wrong diagnosis because a patient's description of his own sickness is always given more credence. If the patient says that he bas a headache and attributes this headache to certain foods be bad eaten or his other activities, then even if the doctor says otherwise, no one is fully convinced. Therefore, when these diseased beads are presented to the world, it is also stated that the 'sick man' bas himself given an excellent diagnosis of his ailment. This sick man says "my religion is illogical. My religion forces me to commit atrocities against women and children and thus redress my grievances, and that it is my religion of Islam which gives me the right to take revenge in this way. " You are free to indulge in acts of sabotage, you can disrupt the peace in the cities by planting bombs. You can take revenge and relieve your anguish in whatever way you want and Allah's support is with you. Islam stands behind you and teaches you that you should do it in the name of the religion. . . . . !! Such actions are utterly wrong. There is not the remotest justification for these. If my analysis is presented to the world, the world will necessarily begin to see why there are 'diseased beads' and what has caused the disease. But these unjust Muslim fanatics not onJy allowed the world to attack them, but also presented the religion of Islam to become the target of their wrath! This is a summary and background of the tyranny and injustice that is unfolding before us today. It is imperative that the Islamic leadership understand the real causes of their sickness and tum all its attention to the real disease and persuade others to focus their attention on it. This analysis must be clearly presented before the world. It should be stated that we have been forced to join you against Saddam Hussein, but in no way does it mean that you are absolved, and in no way does it mean that the removal of Saddam or the ruin of Iraq is the remedy for the Muslim world. Failure to act in this manner, will 66
