He was or became of good actions or nobility. u ø  ø g º ( ]ø u »  ø ^ h º is plural): Measure, quantity; amount, value; honour, distinction; merits; noble pedigree. mö r »  ø p ] Ö» Û ø  » ð ö Â ø ×F o u ø  ø g ô Â ø Û ø × ô ä´ : Man will be paid according to the amount or quality of his work. u ø  ø  ø [aor. mø v »  ö  ö and mø v »  ô  ö inf. non u ø  ø  º and u ø  »  º ] u ø  ø  ø å ü Â ø × ø o ] Ö  $ o » ð ô or u ø  ø  ø å ö ] Ö  $ o » ð ø : He envied him for the thing or he envied him the thing (wishing that he might be deprived of it). u ø  ø  ø å ü Â ø ×F o  ø r ø ^ Â ø jô ä´ : He wished that he possessed courage like him (without wishing that he may be deprived of it). Thus u ø  ø  º i. e. envy is of two kinds Good or bad. The first kind of u ø  ø  º is that the possessor may become deprived of the thing he possesses and it may become transferred to him; the good u ø  ø  º consists in the u ø ^  ô  º wishing that the good thing possessed by the Ú ø v »  ö ç »  º might also be possessed by him, the possessor also retaining it. u ø  ø  ø Þô o ø ] Ö × # ä ö ]ô á » Ò ö ß» k ö ]ø u »  ø  ö Õ ø : May God punish me for my envy if I envy thee. u ø  ø  º : Envy; or the wishing that a blessing, or a cause of happiness may depart from its possessor and become transferred to one self. u ø  ø  ÷ ] Ú ôù à » Â ô ß»  ô ]ø Þ» Ë ö  ô ã ô Ü » : Out of envy from their ownselves (2:110). This is the predominant meaning of u ø  ø  º but u ø  ø  º as shown above is used in good sense also. u ø ^  ô  º : Envier; one who envies (plural u ö  $ ^  º ) u ø  ö ç »  º :Envious. Ú ø v »  ö ç »  º : One who is envied. ]ø Ý » mø v »  ö  ö æ » á ø ] Ö ß $ ^  ø : Do they envy men?
