غاص غار relieved )12:50( يُغَاثُوْا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ : They shall be helped with water like molten lead )18:30( اِسْتَغَاثَةَ وَ بِهِ : He sought, implored, demanded or desired his aid, succour or help )28:16( إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ : When you implored the assistance of your Lord )8:10(. غَوْتُ and غَوَاتٌ : A cry for aid, help or succour. غَاصَ ]aor يَغُوْصُ inf. noun غَوْصٌ and غَاصَ فِي الْمَاءِ . [ مَغَاصٌ : He dived in the water or entered into it. غَاصَ عَلَى الْمَعَانِي حَتَّى بَلَغَ أَقْصَاهَا : He dived for the meanings so that he reached the uppermost of them. غَائِصٌ )as also غَوَّاصٌ which has an intensive signification or implies the habit of so doing): One who dives in the water. غَائِسٌ : Applies particularly to one who dives in the sea for pearls or for pearl-shells and fetches them out. غَوَّاصٌ is also used in this sense. The plural of غَائِصٌ is غَوَّاصٌ and of غَوَّاصٌ is غَوَّاصٌ غَوَّاصُوْنٌ also signifies one who exercises art craft, cunning or skill in ordering the means of obtaining subsistence. غَائِصٌ also means one who comes upon a thing suddenly. كُلُّ بَنَّاءٍ وَ غواص : All sorts of builders and divers )38:38( مَنْ يَّغُوْصُوْنَ لَهُ : Who dived in the sea for his sake (21:83). غَالَ aor. يَغُوْلُ inf. noun غَالَهُ غَوْلٌ : He destroyed him. غَالَتِ الْخَمْرُ فُلانًا : The wine deprived such a one of his reason or of the soundness of his body or corrupted or vitiated him. مَا غَالَكَ عَنَّا : What has withheld thee from us غَوْلٌ : Far extent of a waterless desert. اِمْرَأَةٌ ذَاتُ غَوْلِ : A tall woman. Headache or intoxication; privation of the intellectual faculties; distress, trouble or molestation, unfaithfulness. أَتَى غَوْلاً غَائِلَةً : He did a cunning, bad, action لافيها غَوْلٌ : Wherein there will be no intoxication )37:48(. غَارَ = ]aor. يَغُورُ inf. noun غَارَ الْمَاءُ غَوْرٌ : The water sank into the earth. غَارَتِ الشَّمْسُ : The sun set. غَارَتِ النَّهَارُ : The day became intensely hot. غَارَ فِي الْأَمْرِ : He examined minutely or deeply into the affair. غَارَ شَيْئًا : He sought after a thing. غَارَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ )inf. noun )غَيْرَةٌ( : He was jealous of his wife. غَارٌ : A cave or cavern (syn. كَهْفٌ as also مَغَارَةٌ and مَغَارٌ but it is a little less large than the latter i. e. كَهْفٌ ; any low and depressed land; interior of the mouth الْغَرَان signifies the sockets of the eyes; a large army; a large body of 627
