ظمی man and God, between man and man and between man and himself. ظَلَمَهُ حَقَّهُ : He made him to suffer loss of his due or defrauded or deprived him of it. وَمَا ظَلَمُوْنَا : And they did not wrong Us or made Us suffer loss )2:58( إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ : God will not make (them) to suffer loss or deprive them of the weight of an atom )4:41( ظَلَمَهُ also means, he imposed upon him a thing that was above his power or ability. ظَلَمَ الْأَرْضَ : He dug the earth in what was not the place of digging. مَا ظَلَمَكَ أَنْ تَفَعَلَ كَذَا : What has prevented thee from doing such a thing. The word is also used transitively by means of ب as in فَظَلَمُوْا بِهَا : They wrong-fully rejected them )17:60( أَظْلَمَ اللَّيْلُ : The night became dark. وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا : And when it becomes dark to them, they stand still )2:21( ظَالِمٌ )act. part. ): One who does wrong. وَهُوَ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ : And he was wronging his soul )18:36(. ظَالِمُوْنَ and ظَالِمِينَ are plurals 2:52:36( ظَالِمَةً is feminine of or (نُوْرٌ Darkness (cont. of : ظَلْمَاءُ وَظُلُمَةٌ وَظُلْمَةٌ (21:12) ظَالِمٌ non-existence of light or the departure of light; ignorance; belief in plurality of gods; transgression ظُلُمَاتٌ and ظُلْمَاتٌ are plurals. فِيْهِ ظُلُمَتٌ : In it are many kinds of darkness or thick darkness( )2:20( ظُلُمْتُ الْبَرِّ وَ الْبَحْرِ : The troubles, afflictions, calamities, hardships of the land and the sea, its darkness or intense darkness )664( أَظْلَمُوا : They become in darkness. لَيْلَةٌ : فَإِذَا هُمْ مُّظْلِمُوْنَ An intensely dark night : ظُلْمَةٌ وَ لَيْلَةٌ ظَلْمَاءُ وَمُظْلِمَةٌ ظلم 28 And lo, they are in darkness (36:38); being plural of مُظْلِمٌ which is act. part. from يَوْمٌ مُّظْلِمٌ اَظْلَمَ : An evil or dark day. أَظْلَمُ : More and most unjust, injurious etc. مَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ مَّنَعَ : Who is more unjust than he who prohibits )2:115( مَظْلُوم : )Pass) part. from مَنْ قُتِلَ مَظْلُوْمًا . (ظَلَمَ : Who is killed wrongfully (17 : 34); the word meaning wronged, treated worngfully or unjustly. ظَلُوْمٌ وَ ظَلَامٌ : Intensive forms of ظَالِمٌ though also sometimes used as syn. meaning كَثِيرُ الظُّلْمِ : Very unjust. إِنَّهُ كَانَ ظَلُوْمًا جَهُوْلًا : He is very unjust and ignorant )33:73( لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ : Not at all unjust to (His) servants (3:183). ظَمِيُّ ]aor. يَظْمَرُّ inf. noun ظَمَةٌ and ظَمْةٌ and ظَمَاءٌ[ : He thirsted in the slightest degree. ظَمِىَ إِلَى لِقَائِهِ : He longed or desired to meet him. 541
