HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMAD AS Keep in mind! This tribulation will be from God Almighty so that He might hold you dear beyond meas- ure. Behold, how exalted is the station of being befriended by God-the Lord of Honour, and the Exalted! This is the bounty that will never be cut off. 59 In this fitnah, the word kufr [disbelief] is clearly present, from which it is understood that the fitnah would originate from a mukaffir [one who declares someone a disbeliever]. It is also per- missible to read it as kafara, which would mean 'one who refuses to believe in me. ' The outcome of both words is the same. In short, the word kufr here is from the form bāb tafīl, but it can also be from the triliteral root form considering the meaning mentioned. The revelation has been received in both forms. And the follow- ing sentence, 'He should not have involved himself in this act of declaring disbelief, points to the fact that the person would lay claim to possessing knowledge and excellence, meaning he will be referred to as a maulawi. Thus, it was far beneath the dignity of the status he claimed to commit such a sinful act. In short, this is the second fitnah, which is of the second degree, and it is recorded with utmost clarity on page 510 of Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. THE THIRD FITNAH is the fitnah of the brilliant Sign which is written with the utmost clarity on pages (556) and (557) of Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. ¹ And it says: 1.
