HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS (10) فَمَا جَزَاءُ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمُ إِلَّا خِزْيٌ فِي الْحَيُوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَ يَوْمَ الْقِيمَةِ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَى أَشَدَّ الْعَذَابِ Meaning that, whichever person among you commits such a deed shall face disgrace in the present life; and on the Day of Judgement, there is for him a severe punishment. (11) وَإِنْ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا Meaning that, there is not one from among you who shall not come to hell. (12) وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ 3 57 Meaning that, we do know those people from among you who will move ahead and those who will lag behind. Reflect over all these places where the word مِنْكُمْ ]minkum - from among you] has been used for all the Muslims, regardless of whether they were alive at that time or will be born until dooms- day. Similarly, in all other instances, except for two or three places, the word has been used in a general sense. Seemingly, the Companionsra were indeed the direct addressees of all the injunctions, but unless there is a specific context, applying them exclusively to the Companionsra is not permissible. Otherwise, every sinner can argue that the Companionsra were the sole addressees of the injunctions regarding prayer, fasting, hajj, piety, cleanliness, and avoidance of sins, therefore, they are not 1.
