CHAPTER 12: TRANSLATION GUIDE 125 Spiritual Epithets When spiritual epithets are used in place of Islam, the Prophets, or the Quran, those epithets should be translated. Note the following: ISLAM: " QURAN Dinul-Haqq [the Religion of Truth] Şiratul-Mustaqim [the Right Path]—when used for Islam, as opposed to a right path' ■ " " ■ Qur'an Sharif translate as the Holy Quran al-Qur'anul-Majid—translate as the Glorious Quran (Note the definite articles al in the Arabic) Qur'anum-majidun-translate as a glorious Quran (Note that the Arabic does not have the definite article here. ) Qur'an-e-Majid-translate as the Glorious Quran (Note this title of the Quran is in Urdu. ) Qur'an-e-Karim-translate as the Noble Quran (Note this title of the Quran is in Urdu. ) al-Furqan [the Quran]-literally the Discrimination (a title for the Quran)
