206 THE SHINING LAMP این نه خوی بندگان باصفاست این نه کار مومنان و اتقیاست This is not the way of the honest and the righteous, Nor is this a characteristic of those who are pure of heart. من چسان دانم که ترسد از خدا هر که او هر دم پرستار هوا He who is always a slave to his desires, Why should I believe that he fears God? های این مردم چه بد فهمیده اند خویشتن را نیک اندیشیده اند They think themselves to be virtuous. Sadly, how wrong they have come to understand things. بس همین باشد نشان اشقیا اتباع نفس اعراض از خدا To be a follower of low desires and to stay away from God, Are indeed the signs of those who are unfortunate. کافرم گر بوی ایمانش بود هر که زینسان خبث در جانش بود One who has such evil in his heart- Should he have the fragrance of faith in him as well, then I am a kāfir. كان منزه اوفتاد از ارتیاب من برین مردم بخواندم آن کتاب I have presented to these people that Book, Which is free from any doubt and suspicion [i. e. the Quran].
