Refutation of the Divinity of Christ

  • Preamble

  • 4

The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a Messenger; surely, Messengers like unto him had indeed passed away before him. And his mother was a truthful woman. They both used to eat food. See how We explain the Signs for their good, and see how they are turned away.

  • 6

They say, ‘Allah has taken unto Himself a son.’ Holy is He! He is Self-Sufficient. To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. You have no authority for this. Do you say against Allah what you know not?

  • 7

How can He have a son when He has no consort, and when He has created everything and has knowledge of all things?

  • 7

Such is Allah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Guardian over everything.

  • 7

Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware.

  • Another Quranic Argument-Refuting Jesus being the Son of God

  • 12

How can He have a son when He has no consort?

  • Another Argument

  • 14

The Originator of the heavens and the earth! How can He have a son when He has no consort, and when He has created everything and has knowledge of all things?

  • 14

They say, ‘Allah has taken unto Himself a son.’ Holy is He! He is Self-Sufficient. To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. You have no authority for this. Do you say against Allah what you know not?

Verily, We Ourself have sent down this Exhortation, and most surely We will be its Guardian.

  • 18

We have created you. Why, then, do you not accept the truth?

  • 19

We have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented

Verily, the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of Allah and a fulfilment of His word which He sent down to Mary, and a mercy from Him.

  • 37

And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the Messengers,

  • 47

That it is certainly they who would be helped.

  • 47

And that it is Our host that would certainly be victorious.

  • 47

And those to whom We gave the Book know that it has been sent down from thy Lord with truth; so be thou not of those who doubt.

  • 47

And the word of thy Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. None can change His words; and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

  • 47

And humbled the word of those who disbelieved, and it is the word of Allah alone which is supreme.

  • 49

When Allah said, ‘O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and will exalt thee to Myself, and will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve, and will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, and I will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ.

  • 49

‘Then as for those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and in the next, and they shall have no helpers.

  • 49

‘And as for those who believe and do good works, He will pay them their full rewards. And Allah loves not the wrongdoers.’

  • 49

That is what We recite unto thee of the Signs and the wise Reminder.

  • 49

Surely, the case of Jesus with Allah is like the case of Adam. He created him out of dust, then He said to him, ‘Be!,’ and he was.

  • 49

This is the truth from thy Lord, so be thou not of those who doubt.

  • 49

Now whoso disputes with thee concerning him, after what has come to thee of knowledge, say to him, ‘Come, let us call our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and our people and your people; then let us pray fervently and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie.’

  • 49

This certainly is the true account. There is none worthy of worship save Allah; and surely, it is Allah Who is the Mighty, the Wise.

  • 49

But if they turn away, then remember that Allah knows the mischief-makers well.

  • 49

Say, ‘O People of the Book! come to a word equal between us and you — that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partner with Him, and that some of us take not others for Lords beside Allah.’ But if they turn away, then say, ‘Bear witness that we have submitted to God.’

  • An Essential and Wonderful Reminder

  • 53

Verily, those who swear allegiance to thee indeed swear allegiance to Allah.

  • 53

And thus have We revealed to thee the Word by Our command.
