CH. 54 AL-QAMAR PT. 27 وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرُّ And there came upon them. 39 early in the morning a lasting punishment. 4030 40. 'Now taste ye My punishment and My warning. ' فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ And, indeed, We have made. 41 the Quran easy to understand and to remember. But is there anyone who would take heed? 4031 R. 3. 42. And surely to the people of Pharaoh also came Warners. 43. They rejected all Signs. So We seized them with the seizing of the Mighty, the Powerful. 4032 & مُّدَّكِرِة وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُة كَذَّبُوا بِايْتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنُهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزِ Our كَذَّبُوْابِايْتِنَا مقْتَدِرِه a11:82. 20:48; 26:17. º20:57. into hiding and thus they could not be found out. Or that God so arranged that attention of Lot's people became diverted from them. 4030. Important Words: (came upon them early in the morning). (sabbaḥa) is the intensive form of (sabaḥa). They sayi. e. he came to the people or attacked them in the morning (Lane & Aqrab). See also 7:79. 4031. Commentary: coupled with a pathetic appeal to them to learn a lesson from the fate of these peoples and not to reject the Message of the Quran which is revealed only for their good and rejection of which would land them into ruin. 4032. Commentary: مقتدر The use in the verse of the word (The Powerful) is very significant. Pharaoh was a very powerful monarch. He regarded The account of each of the four himself as "the most high lord of the peoples of antiquity with whose Israelites" (79:25). So the might of history the pagan Quraish were quite the real Omnipotent Lord of Moses conversant- -the peoples of Noah and and Aaron was pitted against that Lot and the tribes of ‘Ād and self-designated lord, and he was Thamūd ends with a stern warning, | completely annihilated. 3042
