PT. 27 ADH-DHĀRIYĀT CH. 51 قَالُوا كَذَلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ They said, "Even so has thy. 31 Lord said. Surely, He is the Wise, the All-Knowing. ' الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ 32. Abraham said, 'Now what is OKËJË b your errand, O ye who have been sent?'3912 قَالُوا إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمِينَ ) They said, “We have been. 33 لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّنْ طِينٍ مُّسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ sent to a sinful people, 34. 'That we may send down upon them stones of clay,d e 35. 'Marked, with thy Lord, for those guilty of excesses. '3913 36. And therefrom such of the believers فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ فِيْهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ We brought forth as were there, فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّن And We found not there. 37 الْمُسْلِمِينَ except one house of those who were obedient to us. 3914 وَتَرَكْنَا فِيْهَا آيَةً لِلَّذِيْنَ يَخَافُونَ And We left therein a Sign. 38 الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَة for those who fear painful punishment. 11:74. 15:58. 15:59. 11:83. 11:84. 15:60; 29:33, 815:76; 29:36. 3912. Important Words: means, a خطب (your errand) خطبكم thing, an affair, or a business small or great; the cause or occasion of a thing or an event. They say be i. e. what is the thing or affair or business that thou seekest or desirest to do; or what is the cause of thy coming? (Lane & Aqrab). See also 12:52. 3913. Commentary: The Divine punishment which seized the people of Lot is variously described in the Quran by the words ✓i. e. storm of stones (54:35); am i. e. a blast and i. e. stones of clay (11:83). These people seemed to have been destroyed by a violent earthquake which turned parts of the earth upside down (11:83). 3914. Commentary: 2991 The house referred to in the verse was that of Lot minus his wife, who chose to side with her disbelieving relatives and refused to go with Lot.
