PT. 24 AL-MU'MIN CH. 40 الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُوْنَ الْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ Those who bear the Throne. 8 and those who are around it, يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِه glorify their Lord with His وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ praise, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe, saying: 'Our Lord, Thou dost comprehend all things in Thy mercy knowledge. So forgive those لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيْلَكَ وَقِهِمْ Thy mercy and عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ who repent and follow Thy way; and protect them from the punishment of Hell. 3499 رَبَّنَا وَادْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِى Our Lord, and admit them to. 9 وَعَدْتَهُمْ وَمَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ أَبَابِهِمْ the Gardens of Eternity which Thou hast promised them, as and their wives and their وَاَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ well as such of their fathers الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُن children as are virtuous. "39:76; 69:18. 13:24; 52:22. opposition to God's Prophets, the disbelievers fully merit Divine punishment. 3499. Commentary: As (Throne) signifies Divine attributes (see 10:4 & 39:76), "the bearers of the Throne" would, therefore, mean those beings or persons through whom those attributes are manifested. The laws of nature work through the angels, and the Prophets are the instruments through whom God's Word preached to mankind. Thus the words "those who bear the Throne" may signify both the angels and Divine Messengers. The four principal Divine attributes being ✓ (the Lord), is (the Gracious), (the Merciful) and (Master of the Day of Judgement), the most important bearers of the Throne are those angels through whom these four attributes find their manifestation and expression; and the words "those who are around it" may signify subordinate angels who assist the affairs of the world. principal angels in executing the God's attributes of 'mercy' and 'knowledge,' according to this verse, are among the most important and all-comprehensive of Divine attributes. 2773 Asking of forgiveness by angels for believers consists in the fact that they
