Unto Him ascend good words, and as for الصَّالِحُ يَرْفَعُهُ وَالَّذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ ,righteous work He exalts it السَّيَّاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَكْرُ And those who plot evils for them is a severe punishment; and the plotting of such will 3184 perish. 3 27:51, 52; 35:44. أو ليكَ هُوَ يَيُورُ he heavenly. . . نشر الخبر They say. نشر noun from spread or spread out or published the news. means, the land, being rained upon, its herbage or pasturage became green after it had dried up. means, God raised the dead to life. means, raising the dead: Resurrection. The word has also been used in the sense of spiritual resurrection in this life (Lane & Aqrab). Commentary: In the Quran the plural form (winds) is generally used in good sense as in the present verse and in VV. 7:58; 25:49; etc. while the singular has been used to denote Divine punishment as in 17:70; 33:10; 41:17; 46:25; 51:42; 54:20 & 69:7. The word (Resurrection) if taken to mean the resurrection of a people from a state of spiritual decline and degradation, the verse would mean that just as dead and dry land blossoms into new life when rain falls upon it, so will a people, morally and spiritually dead and steeped in sin and wickedness as the Arabs are, rise to a new life by means of the water of Divine revelation—the Quran. 3184. The ie. perdition نزلت البوار على الكفار Arabs say overtook the disbelievers (Lane & Aqrab). See also 25:19. Commentary: The present verse continues the theme of its predecessor and proceeds to say that under the influence of the Holy Prophet, the Arabs will not only shed their evil ways and become paragons of piety and godliness but all honour and glory will also be theirs, and nations that now look down upon them and consider them beneath notice will bow down before them in humility. Their honour and glory will be the result of their true beliefs, noble ideals, and righteous conduct. 2630 The pronoun in the expression ୪
