PT. 20 AL-'ANKABŪT CH. 29 بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا وَمَا و بكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا you will deny each other, and لَكُمْ مِنْ تُصِرِينَ ) curse each other. '2958 and Abraham said, b‘I flee unto my Lord; surely, He is the Mighty, the Wise. '2959 وَوَهَبْنَالَةَ إِسْحَقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي And We bestowed on him. 28 ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَبَ وَأَتَيْنَهُ أَجْرَهُ فِي the gift of prophethood and the Isaac and Jacob, and We placed Book among his descendants, and الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّلِحِينَ We gave him his reward in this life, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous. وَلُوْطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِةِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُوْنَ And We sent Lot. Commentary: may مودة بينكم The expression interpreted as follows: be proceeded from your love of each other, i. e. first you conceived love and affection for some persons and then let that love degenerate into their worship. 2959. Commentary: (1) Social relations or the desire to win each other's love and not reason or sound arguments are the basis of your idolatrous ideals and practices; or (2) you have made your idolatrous beliefs and practices the foundation of your love with each other, i. e. you have made the identity of your idolatrous beliefs the means to preserve the homogeneity of your community; or (3) your idolatrous practices have met at their hands. The verse may mean that Abraham left his home in Ur in Iraq and migrated to Palestine, or the migration referred to in the verse may have been spiritual. As it appears from 19:49, 37:100 & 60:5, Abraham had, for some time, to sever all connections with his people on account of the severe opposition he 2477
