CH. 12 YUSUF PT. 13 قَالَ هَلْ أَمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَمِنْتُكُمْ He said, “I cannot trust you. 65 b ص with him, save as I trusted you عَلَى اَخِيْهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَفِظَا with his brother before. They said, o هذِهِ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا ۚ وَنَمِيْرُ أَهْلَنَا goods, they found their money 'O our father, what more can we desire? Here is our money وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرِ ذَلِكَ returned to us. We shall bring كَيْلُ تَسِيرُ provision for our family, and guard our brother and we shall have in addition the measure of a camel load. That is a measure which is easy to obtain. '1567 1566. Commentary: In the words, Allah is the best Protector, Jacob administers a subtle rebuke to his sons by hinting to them that, after their tragic experience with Joseph, it is a pity that even now they should not rely on the protection of God but on their own power. He further hints that he had not entrusted Joseph to their care before, nor would he now entrust his brother to their protection. His trust now, as before, lay in God alone. 1567.
