CH. 9 PT. 10 AT-TAUBAH 71. And the believers, men and women, are friends one of وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ another. They enjoin good and عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلوةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ forbid evil and observe Prayer الزَّكُوةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ Allah and His Messenger. It is أوليك سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللهُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَتِ جَنَّتِ b d and pay the Zakāh and obey. these on whom Allah will have mercy. Surely, Allah is Mighty and Wise. 1225 72. Allah has promised. believers, men and women, تَجْرِى مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهرُ خُلِدِينَ فِيهَا Gardens beneath which rivers ط وَمَسْكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِي جَنَّتِ عَدْنٍ and delightful_dwelling-places وَرِضْوَانٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ اَكْبَرُ ذُلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ flow, wherein they will abide, in Gardens of eternity. And the pleasure of Allah is the greatest of all. That is the supreme triumph. 1226 3:105,111; 7:158; 9:112; 31:18. 2:4. 2:44. d8:2. 2:26. 3:16; 5:3; 9:22; 57:21. Quran speaks of the place as being situated on or near a "permanent way" (15:75-77). 1226. Important Words: is عدن (Gardens of eternity) جنات عدن عدن بالارض They say عدن derived from abode in the land means, I عدنت البلد Compare this verse and the next | 1225. Commentary: with 9:67, 68 above. The present verse enumerates some of the signs of true believers. These signs are: (1) that they are friends to one i. e. he remained, stayed, dwelt or took for myself the town or country as a home or a settled place of abode. the camels kept to such a place, not. i. e عدنت الابل بمكان كذا An Arab would say ,would, therefore جنات عدن. another; (2) that they enjoin good, quitting it (3) that they forbid evil; (4) that they are steadfast in the performance of Prayers (5) that they give the prescribed Zakāh; (6) that they obey God and His Messenger; and (7) that they are recipients of God's mercy. 1177 mean Gardens of perpetual abode (Lane). See also 5:66. Commentary: The word translated as "delightful" in the text also means طيبة
