PT. 10 AT-TAUBAH cause of Allah with their property and their persons have the highest rank in the sight of Allah. And it is they who shall triumph. 1183 CH. 9 دَرَجَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَأُولَبِكَ هُمُ الْفَابِزُوْنَ يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَرِضْوَانٍ Their Lord gives them glad. 21 tidings of mercy from Him, and of His pleasure, and of Gardens wherein there shall be lasting bliss for them; وَجَنَّتٍ لَّهُمْ فِيْهَا نَعِيمٌ مُّقِيمة خَلِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا إِنَّ اللهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ They will abide therein. 22 عظيم forever. Verily, with Allah there is a great reward. يَا يُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا بَاءَكُمْ O ye who believe! take not. 23 your fathers and your brothers وَاِخْوَانَكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ إِنِ اسْتَحَبُّوا الْكُفْرَ for friends, if they prefer عَلَى الْإِيْمَانِ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَلَّهُمْ مِّنْكُمْ فَا وليكَ هُمُ الظَّلِمُونَ ) disbelief to faith. And whoso befriends them from among you, it is they that are wrongdoers. 1184 "3:16; 5:13; 9:72; 10:10; 57:21. 3:29; 4:140,145; 9:16; 58:23. sanctity than the Ka'bah" (Mājah). 1183. Commentary: In the previous verse it was pointed out that disbelievers could not be equal to believers, even if the former outwardly served the Ka'bah and aided pilgrims. In this verse it is added that believers are not all alike, some of them possessing a higher spiritual rank than others. 1184. Commentary: This verse deals with that class of idolaters who were actively hostile to Islam and strove hard to exterminate 1145 it. They had declared war on innocent Muslims, and such was their hatred of Islam that they even disregarded the ties of relationship with a view to harming them. It was with such implacable enemies of Islam that Muslims were forbidden to make friends, for such an act on their part would have amounted to treachery to Islam and would certainly have done it incalculable harm. As for other disbelievers who were not at war with Muslims, the Quran exhorts Muslims to be benevolent and kind to them (see 60:9,10). As a matter of fact,
