PT. 9 AL-A'RĀF CH. 7 وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي And ordain for us good in. 157 this world, as well as in the الْآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ قَالَ عَذَابِي next; we have turned to Thee with repentance. ' God replied, أَصِيْبُ بِهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَرَحْمَتِی I will inflict My punishment وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ on whom I will; but My mercy encompasses all things; so I will يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكُو وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ ordain it for those who act بِايَتِنَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ righteously, and pay the Zakāh and those who believe in Our Signs. 1046 الَّذِيْنَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيُّ الْأُمِّي Those who follow the. 158 Messenger, the Prophet, the الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِنْدَهُمْ Immaculate one, whom they فِي التَّوْرَيةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُمْ find mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel which are with بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهُهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ them. He enjoins on them good and forbids them evil, and وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ makes lawful for them the good الْخَبيثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ اِصْرَهُمْ things and forbids them the bad and removes from them their وَالْأَغْلُلَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَالَّذِيْنَ burden and the shackles that were upon them. So those who shall believe in him, and honour آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا التَّوْرَ الَّذِى أُنْزِلَ مَعَةَ " أو هُمُ ,and support him, and help him "2:202. 2:285; 5:41. 40:8. d29:49; 42:53; 62:3. €48:30. See 3:105. 1046. Commentary: The sentence, so I will ordain it for those who act righteously and pay the Zakāh and those who believe in Our Signs, consists of two parts. The first part, i. e. those who act righteously and pay the Zakāh refers to those of the Israelites who sincerely believed in Moses and acted righteously, while the second part, i. e. and those who believe in Our signs, refers to the believers in the Prophets that were yet to come, particularly the Holy Prophet of Islam, as the following verse points out. 1045
