AL-AN'ĀM CH. 6 قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوا بِلِقَاءِ اللهِ حَتَّى Those indeed are the losers". 32 who deny the meeting with إذَا جَاءَتْهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا Allah, so much so, that when يُحَسْرَ تَنَا عَلَى مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ unawares, they will say, our the Hour shall come on them bɩ b₂O grief for our neglecting this يَحْمِلُوْنَ اَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَى ظُهُورِهِمْ Hour! And they shall bear their الَا سَاءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ burdens on their backs. Surely, evil is that which they bear. 779 وَمَا الْحَيُوةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهُو And worldly life is nothing. 33 وَلَلدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ of the but a sport and a pastime. Important Words: b (our neglecting) is derived from (farrata) which again is derived from (farata) which means, he فرط منه الكلام. went before or preceded ,means عليه means, the speech or the words issued from him hastily before reflection. b he acted hastily and unjustly towards him. ab (farrațahu) means, he made him to precede; or he made him to be before, or beforehand or first or foremost. ab also means, he sent it before, himself remaining behind it. by means, he left or forsook him; or he abstained or desisted from it. means, he neglected it or he was remiss with respect to it; or he preferred backwardness in it; or he failed to do, or fell short of doing, what he ought to have done with respect to it. b) has generally come to mean, "falling short of" and b (from b³) "exceeding proper limits" (Lane & Aqrab). 1 (surely) originally denotes an interrogation respecting a negative, or a wish or reproof, or the asking for or requiring a thing. It is also used as an inceptive particle giving the sense of "now" or "why". It also means, verily, truly or surely (Lane). Commentary: The pronoun in (this) may refer to the "Hour" mentioned above. In that case, "neglecting this Hour" would mean that disbelievers never believed that the Hour would come and never gave it a thought; or it may refer to (the earth) or to (our present life) occurring in 6:30 above. In this case, the sentence would means, he exceeded due bounds or just mean that they acted negligently limits in the matter. Thus b (from | during their life on this earth. 855
