Commentary: The verb (you used to assert) 851 has always been used in the Quran with regard to falsehood. It signifies an assertion of which one is not sure. Thus (you used to assert) would mean, "you asserted with your tongues, while you had doubts in your minds". 771. Commentary: The verse means that on the Day of Judgement all the mischief which disbelievers worked in their life on earth will end and nothing will be left to them save to deny their having ever attributed partners to God.
