Why is there so much hatred against the maulawis in general, and against Maulawi Muhammad Husain, the head of Punjab's ulema (as he himself claims), that he had to flee from Lahore, and, on account of his stubbornness and shame, he cannot even enter the mosque of the Muwahhidin [Unitarians] if he happens to be in Lahore? But as for Mirza Ṣāḥib (who, according to Maulawī Ṣāḥib, is a kāfir [disbeliever]; nay, rather, the greatest kafir and dajjal) people are packing their bags and gathering around him from places like Lahore, Amritsar, Peshawar, Kashmir, Jammu, Sialkot, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Bombay, countries north and west, Owadh, Makkah the Honoured, and other cities while he is sitting in his hometown. Moreover, these visitors are not innovators, idolaters, ignorant, or destitute. Rather, they are believers in the Oneness of God, giving due honour to the Hadith, maulawīs, jurists, descend- ants of pirs, gentlemen, the rich, nawwāb, and lawyers. This is now a moment to simply reflect. In spite of Maulawi Muhammad Husain's belittling, and in spite of him getting seals placed by many maulawis on his fatwas of kufr [disbelief], Allah, glorified be His eminence, has exalted Mirza Ṣāḥib so much, and how much have God's people been attracted to him that they are leaving the comfort of their homes, spending their money to come to Qadian and sleep on the floors! In fact, many of them must have spent a sleepless night or two in the train. Many of them came on foot. I have not heard any complaint from anybody. They gather around Mirza Ṣāḥib as moths swarm around a lamp. When Mirza Ṣāḥib says something, they listen with undivided attention. About forty to fifty people accepted his claim during this Jalsa. Mirza Ṣāḥib also mentioned the ful- filment of the prophecy concerning the death of Ahmad Baig, which Nur Afshan had criticized so much.
