PROCEEDINGS OF THE JALSA OF 27 DECEMBER 1892 631 participants presented their advice about promoting the cause of religion in Europe and America, and it was decided that a periodical, which would comprehend the most important essentials of Islam and the beautiful face of the doctrines of Islam, should be compiled, and many copies should be sent to Europe and America. Afterwards, proposals were presented for the establishment of our own printing press in Qadian, and a list was compiled of those gentlemen's donations which they will be sending for the assistance of the press. It was also decided that a newspaper for the support of Islam should be commenced. It was also proposed that Ḥaḍrat Maulawi Sayyed Muhammad Ahsan Amrohi should be chosen as the preacher for this Community and should tour Punjab and India. This was followed by prayers. Going forward as well, these shall always remain the very aims of this Jalsa Salana [Annual Convention]: for the publica- tions of Islam and the sympathy of the new Muslim converts of America and Europe, appropriate proposals shall be deliberated upon so that progress is made in the world towards pious con- duct, benevolence, taqwa [righteousness] and piety, virtuous morals, and for the removal of contemptible practices and dis- graceful customs, and efforts and policies be made to be truly grateful and appreciative of this British Government. To fulfil these aims, and for the purpose of other arrangements, a com- mittee was also appointed for which the President is Maulawi Noor-ud-Deen of Bhera; the Secretary is Mirza Khuda Bakhsh, teacher in the service of Khan Ṣāḥib Muhammad Ali Khan, Chief of Malerkotla; Shaikh Raḥmatullāh, Municipal Commissioner of Gujrat; Munshi Ghulam Qādir Fasih, Vice President and Municipal Commissioner of Sialkot; and Maulawi 'Abdul-Karim of Sialkot.
