622 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS ,Ali] قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَدِّثُوا النَّاسَ بِمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَتُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يُكَذَّبَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۚ :chapter may Allah be pleased with him, said: 'Speak to the people according to their level of understanding. Would you like them to falsify Allah and His Messenger?'] In explaining this hadith, Imām Bukhārī says in -meaning that: Convey to peo : أَي تُكَلِّمُوا النَّاسَ عَلَى قَدَرِ عُقُولِهِمْ :the footnote ple those topics of the sayings of Allah and His Messengers as that they understand and that appear intelligible to them. Otherwise, they may unwittingly give the lie to Allah and His Messenger. ' Now, obviously any opponent who hears that the maulawis have issued a fatwa stating that it is forbidden to travel in any other direction outside of three mosques and one or two other destinations, would laugh at Islam and would find an opportunity to find fault with the teachings of the Holy Law-giver, peace be upon him. The opponent would be completely unaware that this was simply the mischief or stu- pidity of a maulawi that was based upon some narrow-mindedness. He would directly attack our Lord and Master, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Likewise, many such mischievous writings of the maulawis have given ample help to the Christians. For example, when the maulawis openly declared that our Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is God forbid-dead, but Ḥaḍrat ‘Īsā [Jesus] is alive till the Day of Judgment, these people mounted vigorous attacks upon Ahl-e-Islām [the Muslims]. They misled thousands of simple-minded people with these very statements. These unworthy people did not understand that, in fact, all Prophets are alive—not a single one of them is dead. During the night of Mi'rāj [Spiritual Ascension], the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not see the dead body of any of them. They were all alive.
