620 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS Those who reflect upon the above-cited verse can understand that ,Verily] إِنَّمَا الأعْمَالُ بالنيات :in line with the hadith of the Holy Prophet deeds are (judged) by their intentions], no appropriate arrangement for serving Islam can be labelled as innovation or waywardness. As, with the changing times, new difficulties are arising for Islam, and new ways are being adopted to attack us, we have to make new plans to counter them. Therefore, if we think of a plan to counter and dispel the attacks prevailing at these times, it would be good planning and would have nothing to do with innovations. It is also possible that because of the changing times, we may come across difficulties that were not faced by our Lord and Master the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. For example, we cannot adopt the modes of fighting that were adopted by him, because the mode of fighting has been completely transformed. The older types of weapons are of no use, and new weapons have been invented. If handling and using these weapons is now considered an innovation, and if listening to the maulawis like Miyań Raḥīm Bakhsh, we consider it a sin and misguidance because neither the Holy Prophet nor his Companions nor those who came after them adopted those modes of fighting, what else would happen besides us suffering the humiliating loss of even the dilapidated kingdoms that we now possess and the enemy being victorious? No other result would be achieved. Thus, in this verse of the Holy Quran, namely: واعد والَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ Allah, glorified be His eminence, provides us sufficient guidance in all matters of fighting—whether they relate to physical or intellectual 1.
