REPLY TO SHAIKH MUHAMMAD HUSAIN BATALAWI'S PAPER 607 say: 'O kadhdhāb [great liar]! O dajjal [deceiver]! O fabricator! Your ignominy has been exposed today. Now where is He whom you claimed to be your Helper? Where is your ilham [revelation] now, and where have your miraculous Signs disappeared?' However, if my humble self is victorious, then Muhammad Husain should stand up in that very meeting and repent by saying the follow- ing words: 'O members of the audience! Today my ignominy has been totally exposed akin to the dawning of the day with the rising of the sun. It has now been proven that this man is truthful, and I was indeed the dajjal and I was indeed the great liar, and I was indeed the kāfir [disbeliever] and I was indeed the faithless one. I now repent—be ye all witnesses to it!' Thereafter, he should burn his books in that very meeting and follow me like humble servants. 1* Gentlemen! This is a way to settle the matter which I have made pub- lic at this time. Miyāń Muhammad Ḥusain adamantly persists that my humble self is absolutely ignorant of the Arabic sciences ✡ ², dull, wanting, absolutely bereft, and that I am totally lacking in the knowl- edge of the Quran. Moreover, I am not even worthy of receiving the help of God Almighty since I am a great liar and a dajjāl. At the same time, he lays claim to excellence in knowledge and learning because in his view, the revered Hadrat Maulawi Noor-ud-Deen, who, in the sight of this humble one, is a scholar of the times and a compendium of knowledge, is only a physician, and Respected Brother Maulawi Sayyed Muhammad Ahsan, who is a veritable epitome of the knowledge of hadith, is just a clerk. Thus, his claims, along with his statements about my poor condition that he has published again and again, leave no doubt about the validity of this manner of deciding. And if he is not capable of participating in this competition and has uttered a lie about 1. Shaikh Batālawi would be permitted to have Miyań Shaikhul-Kull [Nadhir Husain] and all other haughty mullahs to join him. Author 2. See his fatwa [in Isha'atus-Sunnah], no. 4, vol. 13, p. 115.
