604 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS MY RESPONSE―I have certainly not made this prophecy about you. If anyone has attributed it to me, he certainly lied. It is sheer dishonesty and deceit on your part that without asking me or finding any such statement in my writings, you have accused me without any reason. HIS STATEMENT-Some of your followers drink alcohol. Has your chief helper and follower not consumed alcohol at your home? MY RESPONSE― May the curse of Allah be upon] لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَاذِبِينَ the liars]. Now prove who drank alcohol at my house and who drinks alcohol out of those who have taken my Baiat [Pledge of Allegiance]. I observe that people suddenly manifest a holy transformation in their behaviour after taking the Bai'at. They are regular in Prayers, abstain from the forbidden, and give precedence to the Faith over worldly objects. The truly righteous are in no need of being called virtuous by anyone. God Almighty sees the hearts, and His seeing is sufficient. Now, in accordance with my promise, I would like to lay down a criterion herewith that will amply demonstrate that my humble self enjoys the support of Allah and Mr Batālawi is a liar of the first degree, a dajjāl [deceiver], and the leader of the haughty. That statement is the following. Readers are aware, based on the continuous writings of Mr Batālawī, that he has called my humble self ignorant, foolish, and illit- erate. Moreover, he has claimed that my humble self is, in reality, not a Mulham and a Muḥaddath; but rather, is a rogue, a kadhdhāb [great liar], and a dajjal. According to him, falsehood permeates me entirely. When some Signs were shown to him, he responded that sometimes God Almighty helps a false claimant as well, even though He knows that His help would become a testimony for the truthfulness of a false claimant. Nevertheless, He helps such a one, and enables such liars to use the arts of divination and foretelling to say something which is ful- filled. Thus, Mr Batālawī has rejected such Signs through his absurd
