AN ACCOUNT OF SOME OF MY HELPERS 571 belongs to that God who has given me this dear friend on time and during the days when he was needed the most. Hence, we implore Allah that He may increase his age, health, and wealth. Moreover, I pray that He may grant me such opportunities that I may further sup- plicate for him as well as his family and these supplications may be accepted. My understanding bears witness that acceptance¹ of prayer 1. Let it be known that acceptance of prayer is one of the mysteries of Divine wisdom. And for this only the spiritual people are chosen. This is a consistent practice of Allah that at the time of the prayers done by his chosen ones, He subdues this transitory world, the effects of celestial bodies, and the hearts of the people. At times, due to the firm determination of these chosen ones, putrid air could be transformed into pure air. In the same way, the clean air could be turned into filthy air. By the will of Allah, who has absolute power over the heavens and the earth, a heart of stone could be turned into a heart of flesh. Similarly, a heart of flesh could be turned into a heart of stone. When some saint is in desperate need of something non-existent, and he diverts his whole attention with dedication for the manifestation of that particular thing, through his firm determination that non-existent thing is brought into exist- ence. In the same way, if a saint diverts his full attention to make something existent disappear, it disappears suddenly. This is the reality of miracles. Neither the intellect of shallow thinkers can comprehend these miracles, nor the reasoning of philosophers can enjoy its taste. Surely, the senses of the chosen ones are completely different which are bestowed upon them by the True God. So, when these saints receive a portion from these senses, there- upon, they are dressed in new robes and start listening to such new songs, the like of which no ear has ever heard in this world. Their intellect is refined to the highest point. They are given the knowledge of the sources of inference and deduction. Their intellect is amazed at the subtleties of these deep mys- teries, whereas every dull-minded blockhead refuses them. Allah helps them in all circumstances and His invisible hand works behind all their adventures and deeds. When they close a door on the earth, the same door is considered to be closed in the heavens as well. Similarly, when they open it on the earth, then it is also opened from the sky. The sky coincides in its movement, with the will of these chosen ones and the prob- lems are resolved according to their will. Allah shows their respect and gran- deur to His creation so that the wise and the fortunate may show an inclina- tion towards them. Author
