ADDENDUM- A Brief Account of My Life and the Blessings of the Gracious God 0 ye brethren! When I just finished writing my letter and completed my discourse it was revealed to my heart that I should unveil some account of my life and that of. my forefathers, so that you may know and how He has nour- the great grace that God has bestowed upon me, ished me with bounties and favours. Thus, you may become fully aware of my particulars and objectives, and thus may my abode, dwelling, and standing become evident and manifest to you. It may be that thereafter Allah will sway your heart, and you may come to me seeking guidance and correspond with me asking queries. Let it be known-may God be your help-that my ancestors were Persian in origin and were the nobles and chiefs of their people. Then, Divine will led them to the city of Samarqand where they lived for some time. Only Allah knows how long they remained there. I have no other source of knowledge about that period except what I inferred from their written records. Then, it became apparent to them that it was better for them to set out for Hindustan, so they departed from their land and settled in some parts of the Punjab. They found some fertile and green lands with clean air and sweet water, so they dropped their belongings and landed there, intending permanent residence. They were travelling along with a large company of their clan including nobles and servants. Thus, Allah gave them a refuge in this land and caused them to dwell in an honourable abode, establishing them therein. Hence, they founded a town and named it Islāmpūr (now known as Qadian)
