AT-TABLIGH―TO THE NOBLE AND PIOUS OF THE ARABS 473 souls of Prophets and Messengers by way of reflection to all those who conform to them in nature, and resemble them by their disposition and character in truthfulness, loyalty, and piety. Hence, it is evidently clear that the influence of stars is an estab- lished and well-known fact-one that can only be denied by an igno- rant, idiotic, and foolish one who does not reflect on the Quran and goes on quarrelling like a blind man. This phenomenon of returning rain and bursting forth continues in the heavens and the earth since the very day God created them. He said: اخْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا قَالَتَا أَتَيْنَا طَابِعِينَ So, the heaven turns towards the earth as a man towards a woman. This is why the Merciful Lord chose the word for heaven and for earth indicating that these two have a lasting bond as a male and female always meet and neither of them refuses or rebels. So, the heavenly effects continue to descend and the earth unceasingly accepts them, and this cycle does not halt for the blink of an eye, and had it not been like this the earth and all in it would have been corrupted. Allah said before these verses: followed by: إِنَّهُ عَلَى رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرُ 20 وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجُع 30 1. 'Come ye both of you, willingly or unwillingly. They said, 'We come willing- ly' (Surah Ḥā Mīm as-Sajdah, 41:12). [Publisher] 2. Surely, He has the power to bring him back to life (Surah at-Tariq, 86:9). [Publisher] 3. By the cloud which gives rain after rain (Surah aṭ-Ṭäriq, 86:12). [Publisher]
