AT-TABLIGH―TO THE NOBLE AND PIOUS OF THE ARABS 471 its essence. I do not see anything in their nature except anger. It is only the Holy Quran that unveils its true essence. See how the Holy Quran elucidates the true meaning of J; [nuzūl—'descent'] in its sublime verses. Ponder over the Word of Allah Almighty: وَ أَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيد And in His Word, glorified be His eminence: 3 قَد أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاسًا وَاَنْزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الاَنْ and in many other of His Words and in many other verses. وَمَا نُنَزِّلَةَ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ 4 You know only too well that these objects do not plop down from heaven; rather, they come into existence and develop upon the earth or beneath its surface. If you perceive deeply into the Book of Allah Almighty, it will be clearly revealed to you that the nature of the Messiah's descent is like the case of the descent just mentioned. So pon- der over our word and examine it deeply; for, it is not befitting that the Word of God bear any internal contradiction, nor shall you encounter any discrepancy in His verities. The comprehensive and commanding Word that guides towards the truth and judges between us and our people is the glorious verse of Surah at-Tariq which reminds one of the secret overlooked by the slaves of desires; namely, the Word of the Almighty: 1. And We sent down iron. . . (Surah al-Ḥadid, 57:26). [Publisher] 2. We have indeed sent down to you raiment (Surah al-A'rāf, 7:27). [Publisher] 3. And He has sent down for you. . . . cattle. . . (Surah az-Zumar, 39:7). [Publisher] 4. And We send it not down except in a known measure (Surah al-Hijr, 15:22). [Publisher]
