466 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS truthful, but they behaved niggardly and hastily and chose the crooked path. They followed the footsteps of the foolish who had passed before them and forgot everything they were advised, preferring the easy way for their world. They cannot harm Allah with their malicious schemes even if they were capable of moving mountains with their plot. Never consider them safe from the grasp of Allah and do not mistake the enmity of truth as a trivial offence. Allah will surely fulfil His promise and help His servant. If they incline towards peace, it is better for them, but if they transgress, Allah will soon disgrace and humiliate them. I have indeed perfected my argument incontrovertibly against them and have read out the conclusive proofs of my truthfulness but they did not cast so much as even a mere glance at it. Do they not see that Allah has pronounced the death of the Messiah [Jesus] at several places? The entire Quran is filled with it, whereas you cannot find a single word or phrase to prove he is alive. The statement of the Messiah [Jesus] in the Quran is sufficient for you: وَكُنتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا مَا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ فَلَنَا تَوَفَّيْتَنِي كُنتَ أنتَ الرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ Look how conclusively this proves that the Messiah had died and passed away! If the descent and second coming of the Messiah was predestined, he would have invariably mentioned two added testimo- nies in his statement, saying, 'I was a witness over them and was a wit- ness over them again for a second time' and would not have remained restricted to the first testimony alone. Allah the Exalted says: 20035 1. And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou has been the Watcher over them (Al- Maidah, 5:118).
