AT-TABLIGH― TO ELDERS OF INDIA, AFGHANISTAN, EGYPT & BEYOND 455 company and their company then why can I not see it? Can you prove it? O liars! You have ruined yourselves and many others. What hap- pened to you? Your pledge of allegiance did not benefit the people nor yourselves. Your assembly is but a pliant mob and an audience of spectators. The Holy Quran is not recited in your gatherings, rather you amuse yourselves with reciting poetry. In those who pledge alle- giance to you, I find no love for Allah and His Messenger sas, as I do not see them refraining from arrogance and transgression; rather, they race and vie with one another in committing vice. They incline towards the weak and the baseless instead of Allah. They worship graves and seek help from the helpless. They fall avariciously on the carcass of this world and with it do they fill their bellies. They have fallen in love with it on account of their stupidity and they crave it like dogs on account of their wretchedness, transgressing within it. They are not acquainted with so much as a single verity of the Holy Quran, nor do they simply read it. They do not take any provision for the Hereafter but keep on toiling after this world. O ye people-Repent! Repent!—for the days have passed and the hour of Allah has drawn nigh. So blessed is the eye that looks deep and beholds. Blessed are the ears that listen attentively and blessed are the feet that tread and hasten unto the path of truth. Blessed are the people who accept the truth and do not turn away. O ye Muslims! May Allah make you true Muslims. Know for cer- tain that I am from Allah and He is sufficient as a Witness. Know, surely, He helps me and strengthens me and teaches me and reveals unto me. He has bestowed upon me such verities as none can know without His instruction. What is the matter with you that you neither accept me nor investigate my true claim? eyes O ye people! Come close to me and do not turn away; open your and shut them not; enter the refuge of Allah and do not distance yourselves from Him; cleanse yourselves from malice and enmity and do not immerse yourselves in filth; hasten towards repentance and
