444 Α'ΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS blessed me with the compilation of the book and enabled me to invite the opponents to Allah's manifest faith. So I sent a book to every oppo- nent and I invited everyone—old and young-to Islam. I promised to show Signs for the seekers of truth and I promised them a great fortune if I failed to provide them a response. Their faces became grief-stricken with fury. None dared to come forward to accept the challenge. They did not answer my call and failed to utter any word, good or bad. None of them came out running to approach me. This is one of the Signs of my truth and honesty for those who ponder. He who has recognized me has accepted me, and he who has not recognized me has not accepted me. Whosoever strives in a matter, Allah reveals the truth of that matter to him. Blessed are the hearts that strive. Fruits are not reaped by remaining idle. He who does not pursue a course of action, cannot possess so much as a whit. Those who seek, do ultimately find. O my People! Do not reject me arbitrarily and do not reject me without evidence. Do not transgress in hurling abuses at me and do not deride me with rage. Do not interfere in the unseen of Allah and persist not about that which you know nothing. It may be that you declare someone a disbeliever while he is a believer before Allah, and it may be that you consider someone sinful while he is pious before Him. Allah sees the hearts of His servants while you do not. O my people! If I were in the wrong, Allah is sufficient for my oblit- eration, but if I am in the right, I fear that you will be seized for your transgression. O ye so-called mystics of India! Only a few of you are pious while most of you are innovators [of religious deviations]. Among you are those who have inclined towards monasticism and have abandoned what they had been enjoined to do. They neither fear nor pay heed to Allah. When they stand up for Prayer, they stand lazily, and yet they rush towards the meditations of Brahmans, causing the hoofs of their horses to bleed, gashing the foot soles of their camels, while believing that they are doing a virtuous deed. They say, ‘We believe in the Quran'
