402 ΑΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS outpouring a second time during this era and desired his descent again into the world through a substitute. And when this desire reached its climax, God Almighty, in accord with this desire of his, raised one who was his spiritual reflection to defeat the Antichrist of this age. This spiritual reflection, by coming in the likeness of the Messiah, peace be upon him, is called the Promised Messiah, for he has in him the substance and essence of the attributes of 'Īsā [Jesus]. This means that he has become one with the essence of ‘Īsā, his birth being the consequence of the fervent demand of the spirit of the Messiah. Accordingly, the essence of the attributes of 'Isa were reflected in him akin to the images of objects reflected in a mirror. And because that counterpart has come in response to the zealous outpouring of the spirituality of the Messiah, he has been so named after 'Isā, for the spirituality of Hadrat ‘Īsā, through its zealous out- pouring, desired the All-Powerful God, glorified be His name, to make a likeness of him and requested Him to place in that likeness the substance of the qualities of ‘Īsā so that his likeness may appear in the world. Accordingly, this is what transpired. This discourse also answers the question as to why the Messiah was singled out for the descent; why was it not said that Moses or Abraham or David would descend? The reason, as has been clearly explained, is that on account of the current mischiefs, it was necessary that the Messiah should indeed be the one to descend. The people of the Messiah were the ones who had gone astray and the ones among whom the qualities of the Antichrist had spread. Therefore, it was only proper that the soul of the Messiah should have been moved. This is the subtle spiritual insight that has been conferred upon this humble one through a vision. It has also been disclosed to me that, after a time of piety and purity and the supremacy of Divine Tauhid [the Oneness of God], the world will again return to mischief, shirk [polytheism], and transgression.
