The Mirror of the Excellences of Islam — Page 364
LETTER FROM MUHAMMAD HUSAIN BATĀLAWI opponents under the mountain if you so wish, he replied that he did not desire this and that he entertained the hope that such people would come into being among their descendants who would proclaim the Oneness of God. If, however, God Almighty informs you that this revelation is irrevocable and bound to occur, then you should discharge your obligation, and prove your claim to Prophethood and Sainthood to your followers by reciting that revelation before them. Preaching to me in this case would be useless, for no Prophet ever persisted in preaching after receiving the promise of inevitable punishment. If, however, you persist in thus threatening me, then the seekers after truth and the just people will come to know that your preaching and warnings are fraudulent and false. In conclusion, I also wish to inform you that if I am well-in- tentioned and in the right in opposing you, and am supporting the Faith of Islam, and my ego has no part in the affair, then God Almighty will help me and by guiding you will make you submit to the truth and the Faith of Islam, or He will destroy you by involving you in a severe punishment. But if my inten- tions are mischievous, God will Himself punish me for it. Your warning and threatening me is vain and pointless, especially because I consider you to be a great liar, and I consider this belief to be part and parcel of Islam. It is better, therefore, for you to abandon this bluster and bravado and become submis- sive to the truth. It is up to you now as how to behave in the future. I can do no more than to clearly convey these things. The Writer, Abū Sa'id Muhammad Husain, may Allah have mercy on him. 363
