354 Α'ΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS I now proceed to set out the response given by Shaikh Batālawī below. And it is as follows: Letter from Muhamamd Batala, District Gurdaspur, (1 January 1893). Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Kadian²! May God guide you and bring you to the right path! سَلَامٌ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى ]Peace be on those who follow the guid- ance. ] I read your letter dated 31 December 1892 in amazement. I am not afraid of your bluster and bravado; on the contrary, I consider such fear to amount to shirk, and in response, I present the following verse from the Quran: Kadiani Şahib! I know that the Quran and the former Scriptures, the religion of Islam and the former faiths, and the Prophet of the Last Age and the former Prophets are true and believe in their truth; consequently, it is essential for me to consider you to be a liar and to reject you; for, your beliefs, your teachings, 1. In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. [Publisher] 2. The correct spelling of the Urdu word is in fact Qadian. However, the writer of this letter has written it with a kāf )ک( instead of a qāf (3), hence this spell- ing. [Publisher]
