' This is the letter that was published in the Nür Afshān of 10 May 1888, the purport of which was indeed that if the girl was married to someone else, the result would be death for you; while, in the other case, instead of such death, there would be blessings. Now, I hereby disclose that the girl was married to someone else on 7 April 1892, and the prophecy was fulfilled on 30 September 1892, when God Almighty caused Mirza Ahmad Baig of Hoshiarpur to depart from this mortal world. Now, let the editor of the Nūr Afshāń patiently ponder over whether, in accordance with the teaching of the Torah¹, the fulfilment of a prophecy is the Sign of a true or a false claimant. For a seeker after truth, a Divine Sign like this alone suffices, but a man who is devoted to falsehood will not benefit from any Sign until there appears the final Sign which is called Hell. It is incumbent upon every seeker after truth to study the Nür Afshāń of 10 May 1888 and indict the Christian pastors with this prophecy. For this reason, the Announcement of 10 July 1888 is appended to this statement. It is hoped that our suspicious brethren will also attend to this matter to find out whether all this is has come from man or from the Lord of Heaven. There is yet time to give up their obstinacy. The man who opposes a true claimant does not, in fact, oppose him but opposes God Almighty. And peace be upon those who follow the] وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى. guidance]. 1.
