ARGUMENT FOR SAYYED AHMAD KHAN 287 which experiments show as proven, but which are beyond the com- prehension of human intellect; that is, the intellect cannot probe into and describe their reality. The same is the case of wahy which comes down from God Almighty and conveys to pure hearts the knowledge which is beyond human capacity to discover. Again, when we know that human reason by itself amounts to nothing-rather, it assumes an importance and status through proven and established verities—then we can very well assert that heavenly wahy is a proven true phenome- non, having in it a miraculous significance and power, and consisting of information about the unseen. I am ready to prove this claim. Could it befit those who are hungering and thirsting in the quest for genuine truth to ignore making a test? If you turn towards me with a sincere heart, I promise, having been enabled to do so by God Almighty, that I will seek help from the Absolutely Powerful One for the purpose of satisfying you, and I am certain that He will hear my entreaties and will rescue you from the misconceptions on the account of which, not only you but a large number of men seem to be in a whirlpool of doubts. Trust me that— simply for the sake of God—I stand ready to prove to you that your views are erroneous. You will now be able to understand my wonder and surprise and regret which have been caused by your statements in which you have, without giving it a thought, taken up the position that neither angels, nor wahy through angels, is real; but, rather, they are the names given to the natural abilities of man. My dear sir, human nature cannot manifest Divine powers, and whatever is given to man as a part of his nature does not go beyond the limits set upon his capabilities by virtue of his being a creation of God. For example, we can never say that the discoveries and inventions of man-however wonderful and unique they may be can ever rival the works of God Almighty. But the wahy which I have myself witnessed with my eyes, and the blessed voice which I have heard with my own ears, is without the least doubt above the capacity of human nature and comprises Divine powers of great magnitude.
