MISCONCEPTION IN NUR AFSHĀN 247 and manifested such a complete and perfect spiritual resurrection that brought to life those who had been dead for ages and whose bones had been decaying for millennia. Through his advent graves were opened and decayed bones were restored to life, proving that he is verily the one who brings the dead back to life and that he is the spiritual resur- rection upon whose footsteps an entire population had risen from its grave. Thus, the whole of the Arabian peninsula was blessed by the glad tiding: وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا After that, the impact of this resurrection did not remain limited to the Companions. Rather, the All-Powerful and Omnipotent Lord who had raised this Bearer of Glad Tidings and Warner for every nation, time, and country, placed everlasting blessings in his true followers forever, promising that the light and the Holy Spirit that had been bestowed upon the Companions of this Perfect Man sas, would also be bestowed upon future followers and people who possess sincerity of faith, as He has said: هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِينَ رَسُولًا مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ أَلَتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَ إِن كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَللٍ مُّبِيْنٍ وَأَخَرِيْنَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ 20 Meaning that: The Merciful God is that God who has sent a Messenger unto the unlettered people from among themselves, who recites His Signs to them and purifies them and teaches them the Book and wis- dom, even though they were utterly misguided before this. In the same way, the Messenger who is training them will also train another group who will come to join the ranks of these very people and would 1.
