226 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS يَوْمَ تَطْوِي السَّمَاءَ كَطَى السجل الكتب كَمَا بَدَ أَنَا أَوَّلَ خَلقِ تُعِيدُهُ وَعَدَّ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا فعِلِينَ Meaning that, 'On that Day We shall wrap up the heavens, as a letter has wrapped within it a number of different subjects. The process, through which this universe had passed before it had assumed its material exist- will be reversed, and it will be made to pass back to nothingness. This is a promise binding upon Us. We shall certainly perform it. ' ence, [Sahih al-Bukhārī has also recorded a hadith on this subject, of that ; و تكون السموات بيمينه : which the following words are noteworthy is, 'wrapping up' means that God Almighty will hold and conceal the heavens in His right hand, and just as now the handiwork of God is apparent but their Cause [namely God] is hidden, at that time, the Cause of all things will become apparent and all things brought into being by Him will become hidden from view in the hollow of noth- ingness. All things, turning to Him, will be consumed by a destruc- tive manifestation of the Supreme Being; all things will abandon their abodes and centres, and will be replaced by a Manifestation of the Divine; and, after the destruction of the imperfect causes, the Real and Absolute Cause will make His Countenance manifest. This is indicated in the following: كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَإِن وَ يَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبَّكَ ذُو الْجَللِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمَ لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِه Meaning that: Through His overpowering manifestation, God Almighty will obliterate everything and thus make manifest His 1.
