AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE Statement on the manner and form in which the pres- ent-day maulawis are slan- dering the Holy Prophet sas The second point, worthy of note for read- ers, is that these maulawis have exalted Jesus in every matter and have slandered our Lord and Master, the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. It is deplorable that they believe with respect to the Messiah that the Holy Spirit never departed from him and that he was free from the touch of Satan, and that these two characteristics were unique to him; however, with regard to our Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, they believe that the Holy Spirit did not remain with him always and at every moment, nor was he free from the touch of Satan-God forbid! Citing blasphemy does not amount to blasphemy. Despite such beliefs, they are called Muslims. In their estimation, our Lord and Master, Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is dead, whereas Jesus is still alive and the Holy Spirit is a perma- nent companion of Jesusas; meanwhile, our Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be on him, is—God forbid—deprived of this bounty. Finally, Jesus is safeguarded from the touch of Satan, but our Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be on him, is not safeguarded. Who can assess the harm that is being done to the religion of Islam in this age by the people who hold these beliefs? These people are hidden enemies of the Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and every Muslim and true lover of the Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, should avoid them. These people want to maliciously associate the righteous predecessors with their abominable statements but due to their inner blindness, they can- not understand the sayings of the righteous predecessors, nor can they grasp the true essence of aḥadīth of the Holy Prophet. They deceptively
