52 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS Woe betide them, these people are so cunning and active in their worldly affairs that they are never content with any limit to their progress in this transitory world, but with regard to faith they are of the opinion that no matter how many attacks, criticisms, and misleading objections are mounted by the opponents, our only response should be that enough has already been written in refu- tation and that no more is needed إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ Look how much the condition of Muslims has worsened and how much their reason has deteriorated in religious matters. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran, وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ وَلْتَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُوْنَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ Furthermore, He states, This shows that as long as critics continue to attack Islam, on our part, we should always continue to defend against them. But this Anjuman preaches to not use the pen against the Christians but instead proposes measures to have them punished. This shows that they have no concern whatsoever for faith. They never pause to think that the attacks of the Christian priests have flooded the 1. Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return. [Publisher] 2.
