10 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS These are the ten conditions that are essential for those intending to write a rebuttal, or enter into a verbal debate with any Christian opponent. Thus, one should be chosen to produce the refutation of the treatise Ummahātul-Mu'minin strictly on the basis of these conditions. The Christians have left no stone unturned in disseminating this treatise, and without caring for any legal accountability, they have sent a copy of the book to every respected Muslim without their demanding for it, and thus have injured the hearts of all the Muslims of British India. All this undertaking indicates that this is the last weapon they have deployed. The real motive behind the usage of extremely vulgar language in this treatise is to provoke the Muslims into petitioning the courts and sending memorials to the honourable Government so that they may not adopt the right action which in fact is the true and effective remedy for such fabricated accusations. Accordingly, I find that their ploy has worked. The only response the Muslims have come up with to this despicable and filthy book is to merely complain to the Government through a memorial. Regarding this book, Anjuman-e-Himāyat-e-Islām Lahore deemed it appropri- ate only to protest before the Government. Alas, they never real- ised that this was precisely the motive of the Christian clergymen that the Muslims, by adopting this regressive approach, should be deprived of following the teaching of their Gracious Lord, جَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ 1. Argue with them in a way that is best. (Surah an-Nahl, 16:126) [Publisher]
