THE MESSAGE OR A CRY OF ANGUISH 5 the Holy Quran, whereby he has assumed the title of a Maulawi by simply reading these texts. Rather it is also necessary that he should have the God-given faculty of carrying out thorough research and investigation; he should have the ability to develop divine insights, verities and convincing arguments. He should, in fact, be Hakimul-Ummah and a pure soul. THIRD CONDITION—He should have adequate knowledge of physics, medicine, astronomy and geography, for in order to pres- ent examples of natural phenomena, or certain other supporting evidences, one must be acquainted with these sciences. FOURTH CONDITION-With a view to counter the Christians, he should memorise in Hebrew those important parts of the Bible which contain prophecies. Of course, it is true that one who is a master of the Arabic language can easily acquire this capability, because I have established, on the basis of a detailed comparison between Arabic and Hebrew vocabulary, that three-fourths of the Hebrew language is purely Arabic that has been mixed into it. In my opinion, one who is well-versed in the Arabic language can gain adequate command over Hebrew within three months. I have written all these matters in the book Minanur-Rahman wherein Arabic has been established as the mother of all tongues. FIFTH CONDITION is a true and sincere connection with God; it is loyalty, love and selfless worship of the Divine; it is inner puri- fication, possessing exalted morals and being completely devoted to Allah.
