ADDRESSING THE ARAB WORLD gathered together many books of Hadith and Quranic commen- tary. He pondered over every point thoroughly, such that this book is the milk of his thoughts and the light of his insight. Indeed what sign is there of the knowledgeable besides knowledge itself. When I read his book and went through its chapters page by page and examined it deeply, I found his discourse beautiful and praised its quality and did not find anything in it that would discredit it. I pray that Allah enables his book to be published alongside my books and place acceptance in it and grant it a spirit from Himself, and make the hearts of men incline towards it, and reward its author in both realms and bless his aims and make him among those who are accepted. When he completed writing his book, his sincerity led him to become a messenger of my teachings to the ulama of his country; to spread my message among them; to become a caller crying out in every direction; and to publish books to make the matter clear for the people of that country. This was the objective for which I used to pray day and night. I see that he is a truthful person who keeps his promises; he abstains from vain speech; and he does not speak unnecessarily in every assembly. Allah has truly placed love in his heart for me, such that he loves me and I love him. I believe this man is capable of everything he has promised and said, and will do as he has pledged. I hope that Allah will make him a means by which the seed that I plant flourishes, and by which the milk that I distribute becomes a pleasant drink—and God is the Best of those who creates such means. I have observed that he is a content and patient person who neither complains nor panics. I have seen time and time again that he makes do with very little food or clothing. If he does not have a quilt, he will not even ask for one; instead, he will bat- tle the cold by sitting under the morning sun or seek warmth by the embers of a fire. He will undergo hardships but not ask for help, out of self-restraint. I have found in his person the signs of 31
