AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO WARN all Those who Abuse the Quran, be they Christians or Others from Among the Opponents of Islam I have written time and time again that the Noble Quran combined all teachings and perfected understanding, and that it contains the knowl- edge of both the Awwalin and the Ākhirīn; and with regard to its lofty station it is akin to an ocean, not a mere pond; it is deeper than every sea [of knowledge] and more magnificent; its light is clearer than the light of the sun; and it is pure from every filth and blemish. It consists of pure scriptures, wherein are lasting commandments and wondrous points of wisdom, expressed in a beautiful manner and a resplendent eloquence that delights its readers. The Holy Quran, with regard to the clarity of its speech, the eloquence of its statements, the exaltation of its knowledge, and the originality of its expressions, is a wondrous miracle. But the Christians and those who follow them denied this miracle and raised doubts against it and embellished their statements for effect, and launched a manifest scheme against it. As such, some of them said: 'The Quran is indeed eloquent and we do not deny its eloquence, nor do we find it to lack ingenuity; nevertheless, its teaching is neither wholesome nor pure. Further, it does not contain wise admonitions, and instead, it enjoins evil and forbids good. And everything it teaches is worthless, as though it were a diseased patient; and it is not useful for the righteous. I declare that everything you all have uttered is an open lie.
