REFUTING OBJECTIONS 231 of God and obedience to Him. Reflect, therefore, on this and do not walk about like a blind people. Then, if you look carefully and concentrate fully on what came to pass, it will become clear to you that the words of the Exalted God, رُوحٌ مِنْهُ ]Ruhun minh -a mercy from Him],¹ are similar to His words جَمِيعًا مِنْهُ ]Jamiʻan minhu—all this is from Him]. 2 As such, it would be foolish to presume that Jesus is Divine from the term رُوحٌ مِنْهُ ]Ruhun minhu] but then not take جَمِيعًا مِنْهُ ]Jamian minhu] to affirm the divinity of the spirits of dogs, cats, pigs, and other creatures, for the verse I have referred to attests that all these are also minhu [i. e. from God]. So let he who possesses any shame die of remorse. Ponder, O Christians! Is there no one among you given to reflection? You will not be able to raise your voice in response to me, and you will meet death due to your thinking; for the parable of a liar is that of a spinning top that is unable to stop when in the presence of the truthful. One criticism of this miserly turncoat [Padre 'Imad-ud- Dīn] which he mentions in his book Tauzīn-a book that is the nest of Satan—is that the revelation of the Holy Quran came from Satan, not from the Spirit [that is] Faithful to the Trust. Out of wickedness and adherence to evil inclinations, he set forth the meaning of the words شَدِيدُ الْقُوى ]Shadidul-quwā[ and ذُومِرَّةٍ ]Dhā mirrah]³ with far-fetched interpretations and great machinations. In doing so, he pained the hearts of the believers. Likewise, he abandoned the principles of modesty 1. Sūrah an-Nisa', 4:172 [Publisher] 2. The full verse reads: 'And He has subjugated to you whatsoever is in the heav- ens and whatsoever is in the earth: all this is from Him. In that surely are Signs for a people who reflect' (Sūrah al-Jathiyah, 45:14). [Publisher] 3. The relevant verses read: 'It [the Holy Quran] is nothing but pure revelation that has been revealed by God. The Lord of mighty powers ]شَدِيدُ الْقُوَى [ has taught him, of Great Might ]ذُو مِرَّةٍ Who then settled upon His Throne' (Sūrah an-Najm, 53:5-7). [Publisher]
