REFUTING OBJECTIONS myriad of tactics for every obfuscation, and are open-handed in every deception, and are masters of every machination. Just as the Messiah has named them Dajjal and workers of iniq- uity, likewise, the Quran has called them Dajjal. It states: يَاهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ الْحَقِّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَ تَكْتُمُونَ الْحَقَّ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ 0 1 That is to say, why do you not shy away from exceeding the bounds of propriety in altering the words of Allah while you know that truthfulness is the way to prosperity whereas false- hood is a sign of wickedness; there is wisdom in adopting the truth, whereas there is defectiveness in adopting falsehood, so beware of the ways of the untruthful. Thus, Allah has indicated in this [verse] that the Christian clergy are deceivers, mischief-makers, and enemies of the truth and the truthful. They have forgotten the darkness of the grave, and so, they do not remember what comes thereafter. The love of carnal desires permeated within them-spreading every- where and reaching its full completion—while every trace of religion vanished. My intuition and insight tells me that they will not cease or desist until they witness an illustration of the acts of Allah that have taken place in previous ages; and until they see an ago- nizing hunger that kindles embers in the bowels, and become greatly pained like one afflicted by calamity. In essence, they are the promised Dajjal and I am the Promised Messiah. This is a verdict upon which the Quran and Gospel agree, and which the Lord of Glory has affirmed. What is the reason, then, that you do not accept a verdict agreed upon by two just judges? Do you seek to escape from a clear decision and subject your honour to the disgraced?
